On April 24, President Obama nominated two pro-union Democrats—Craig Becker and Mark Gaston Pierce—to fill vacancies on the National Labor Relations Board.
Becker currently serves as associate general counsel for the Service Employees International Union and the American Federation of Labor & Congress of Industrial Organizations. He has taught labor law at University of Chicago and Georgetown Law Schools, and has advocated for unions in federal courts throughout the country.
Mark Gaston Pearce is a founding partner of Creighton, Pearce, Johnsen & Giroux in Buffalo, N.Y., where he has been a strong advocate for organized labor throughout his career. Pearce previously worked as a trial attorney at the NLRB’s Buffalo district office from 1979 to 1994.
