The complexities of multinational e-discovery extend beyond language and laws. In one case handled by Catalyst Repository Systems, e-mails had flowed between Iraq, London and the U.S. When the documents were being reviewed, it appeared that some of the e-mails were received well before they had been sent.
There’s a simple explanation, says Catalyst CEO John Tredennick. "Time appears on any computer or server according to local time in that zone. You have to be able to normalize all the e-mails to one standard time zone before you can see actual flow of the communication."
