Men generated 15.9 percent of sexual harassment complaints filed with the EEOC and state and local anti-discrimination agencies around the country in the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2008, according to statistics compiled by the EEOC. By comparison, in 1992 only 9 percent of complainants were male.Most sexual harassment charges brought by men complained about other men. In 2008 there were 13,867 sex harassment charges in the U.S. by men and women—the highest level since 2002—an 11 percent increase from 2007.
The EEOC resolved 11,731 sexual harassment charges in 2008, garnering $47.4 million for complainants (not including dollars obtained through litigation).
