Winters joins DLA Piper in Austin as NEST director and counsel

She will counsel start-ups and mid-stage companies in matters related to formation, structuring, human resources, intellectual property protection, financing and mergers and acquisitions

Previously vice president and general counsel for Trade Technologies, Inc., Majorie Winters has joined DLA Piper as director and counsel of its NEST (NextGen Environment for STartUps) program, which provides emerging growth legal services and advice.

She will counsel start-ups and mid-stage companies in matters related to formation, structuring, human resources, intellectual property protection, financing and mergers and acquisitions.

“Majorie has a deep understanding of the many nuances of the innovation economy and is a welcome addition to our strong team of practitioners working in the space,” said Paul Hurdlow, co-chair of the firm’s Emerging Growth and Venture Capital practice. “She will be a great resource for clients at every stage of their growth cycle.”

At Trade Technologies, Inc., a software and services company, Winters oversaw all IP, corporate compliance, human resource, commercial agreements, litigation, M&A and financial matters, including budgets and projections. Earlier in her career, she worked as a corporate associate with several national business law firms.

Winters earned her J.D. and M.B.A. from the University of Texas-Austin and her B.A. the University of Virginia.
