Joffe named managing director of corporate governance at TIAA-CREF

Bess Joffe

Previously with Goldman Sachs, Bess Joffe has been named managing director of corporate governance at TIAA-CREF. Joffe, who begins Aug. 4, will report to Jonathan Feigelson, senior managing director, general counsel and head of corporate governance.

Joffe will help lead, shape and drive TIAA-CREF’s corporate governance program and policies. This includes active ownership, public advocacy, thought leadership and proxy voting consistent with TIAA-CREF’s commitment to best practices in corporate governance and social responsibility, according to the company. 

At Goldman Sachs Joffe led the outreach to institutional shareholders on corporate governance policies and practices as a vice president in investor relations. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs in 2010, she was an associate director at Hermes Equity Ownership Services in London. Joffe is a Canadian qualified lawyer from the University of Toronto.
