Bill Anoatubby, governor of the Chickasaw Nation, has named Debra Gee general counsel and executive officer for the Chickasaw Nation Division of Justice. In this role, Gee is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the division, as well as developing legal strategies for the Chickasaw Nation.
“I am honored and excited about serving the Chickasaw Nation and its people in this new role,” Gee said in a statement.
Previously, Gee served as deputy attorney general and director of Chickasaw Nation Division of Justice. She has also worked for the U.S. Department of Justice as deputy director of the Office of Tribal Justice and Tribal Legal Counsel for the Violence Against Women Office, Office of Justice Programs (now Office on Violence Against Women).
An enrolled member of the Navajo Nation and an affiliate with the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, Gee also serves on the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) Section 904 Task Force. She was appointed to this panel by the U.S. Attorney General.
