Department of Justice closes Samsung patent probe

U.S. DOJ closes investigation into Samsung’s attempts to use standards-essential patents to block Apple products

The patent war between Apple and Samsung has had many different beachheads. From the flap concerning the acquisition of sensitive data and licensing agreements to battles over the infringement of specific patents, the tech companies have fought over various matters in many different courts. 

One such dispute, which can trace its roots back to the summer of 2013, has finally reached a conclusion, as the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has closed its investigation as to whether Samsung can use standards-essential patents to block Apple products, deciding that no further investigation is necessary.
