Folsom named general counsel of U.S. Steel

Former GC of AIG and ACADEMI takes the helm as general counsel and senior vice president of governmental affairs at United States Steel

Suzanne Rich Folsom, GC of U.S. Steel

Suzanne Rich Folsom knows quite a bit about matters of governance, regulation and compliance, and now she brings that expertise to a “historic and iconic American company that has been at the forefront of our country’s development and growth since the turn of the twentieth century,” as she puts it. That company is United States Steel, and the largest steel company in the nation has appointed Folsom to the position of general counsel and senior vice president of governmental affairs.

Folsom brings a range of experience to the role, having most recently served as executive vice president, general counsel and chief compliance officer at ACADEMI LLC. Prior to that, Folsom served as deputy general counsel and chief regulatory and compliance officer at AIG during some of the most difficult times of the U.S. financial crisis.
