Charting some of the most recent GC and in-house appointments

GC Appointments

Shine America appointed Jeffrey Schneider executive vice president of business and legal affairs and general counsel. Schneider most recently spent six months as the executive vice president of business affairs at NBCUniversal Inc., where he oversaw business affairs for brand including Bravo, Oxygen, Style, Telemundo and Fandango. He previously spent four years as the senior vice president for business affairs and deputy general counsel at Lifetime Television Networks.

Martha Wyrsch is now executive vice president and general counsel of Sempra Energy. Wyrsch most recently was president of Vestas American Wind Systems from 2009 to 2012. Her prior experience also includes a 10-year stint at Duke Energy, where she held titles including senior vice president of legal affairs, group vice president and general counsel.


Biopharmaceutical company Insmed Inc. named Christine Pellizzari general counsel and corporate secretary. Pellizzari has more than 20 years of experience in the biotech and pharmaceutical industry, most recently at Aegerion Pharmaceuticals, where she was executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary from 2007 to 2012. From 1998 until 2007, she was senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary at Dendrite Inc.


Abt Associates, an international development research firm, hired Brian Roemer as vice president and general counsel. Roemer comes to the company from airline services company GmbH, where he was corporate counsel. He also worked in private practice at Crowell & Moring.

E. Harrison Stone Jr. joined ConnectYourCare as general counsel. Stone previously served as counsel in the corporate and securities practice area of Miles & Stockbridge. He is also the co-founder and a board member of Innurvation Inc., a medical device start-up.



Diligent Board Member Services Inc. named Thomas Tartaro executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. Tartaro comes to the board portal provider after 11 years at Open Solutions Inc., where he most recently served as chief administrative officer, general counsel and corporate secretary.

Ken Kramer is now general counsel and vice president of administration at The Cigarette Store Corp. Kramer previously provided outside counsel for the company over the past 20 years as a shareholder of Berenbaum Weinstock.

Other In-House Moves

Fiona Arnold announced her resignation as executive vice president and general counsel of Vail Resorts Inc. after more than seven years with the company. She previously held in-house positions as Western Gas Resources Inc., where she served as associate general counsel, and Crown Media Holdings Inc., where she was assistant general counsel and vice president of legal and business affairs.


Zale Corp. promoted its general counsel and secretary, Bridgett Zeterberg, to senior vice president, general counsel and secretary. Zeterberg joined the company in September 2010 and assumed the GC role in February 2012. She previously was vice president, assistant general counsel, and vice president of human resources and training at Accor North America.

Law Firm News

Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy hired Phillip Spector as of counsel in its space business group, which represents satellite operators, aerospace manufacturers and investors. Spector most recently was general counsel and executive vice president of business development at Intelsat. Before going in-house, he served as managing partner of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison’s Washington, D.C. office, and also chaired the firm’s communications and technology group.

David Greenwald joined Fried Frank as co-chair of the firm. Greenwald previously spent nearly two decades in the legal department of the Goldman Sachs Group, most recently serving as deputy general counsel and international general counsel. He will lead the firm along with current Fried Frank Chairperson Valerie Ford Jacob until March 2015, when Jacob will become a senior partner and Greenwald will become the sole chairperson.


Crowell & Moring named Richard Lehfeldt as a partner in its environment, energy and resources group. Lehfeldt previously was an in-house attorney at TECO Energy Inc., where he was senior vice president of external affairs, and Edison Mission Energy, where he spent nine years as vice president, assistant general counsel and director of North American legal operations.
