NBCUniversal names new GC, Kimberley Harris

Rick Cotton steps down after 24 years in the position, takes IP position

NBCUniversal announced yesterday that it is naming Kimberly D. Harris executive vice president and general counsel. Harris will assume the role on Sept. 3.

Harris joins the broadcasting company from Davis Polk & Wardwell, where she was a partner in the firm’s litigation department. At Davis Polk, Harris handled matters for clients such as investigations by the Justice Department, the Securities and Exchange Commission and Congress. Also, from 2010 to 2012, she served in the White House Counsel’s Office, most recently as deputy counsel and deputy assistant to the president.
