Charting some of the most recent GC and in-house appointments

GC Appointments

Archer Daniels Midland Co. (ADM) named D. Cameron Findlay senior vice president, general counsel and secretary, effective July 15. Findlay has previously occupied GC spots at Medtronic Inc. and Aon Corp. He previously spent two years as the U.S. Deputy Secretary of Labor.


Colin Stretch was promoted to general counsel of Facebook Inc., replacing outgoing GC Ted Ullyot. Stretch has been the site’s vice president and deputy general counsel for the past three years, notably serving as the lead negotiator for its settlement with the Federal Trade Commission over alleged privacy violations. He previously was a partner at Kellogg Huber Hansen Todd Evans & Figel.


Dan Shaw was promoted to general counsel of The H.J. Heinz Co. Shaw has worked at the food products company for 32 years, serving as deputy general counsel since 2009. His appointment was one of several senior leadership changes in the wake of Heinz’s acquisition by 3G Capital and Berkshire Hathaway.

 

Kevin Berg is now general counsel of Village Roadshow Entertainment Group and executive vice president of business and legal affairs at Village Roadshow Pictures, both parts of the media company Village Roadshow. Berg has worked with the company since 1998, previously holding the titles of senior vice president of legal and financial affairs and associate corporate and legal counsel. Before joining Village Roadshow, he was a law clerk at Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker and a legal consultant for the American Film Marketing Association.


Joseph Wayland, the former acting head of the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Antitrust Division, joined insurance provider ACE Ltd. as general counsel. After leaving the DOJ, Wayland rejoined Simpson Thacher & Bartlett—where he spent more than 20 years as a litigation partner before his stint in the public sector.

 

LPL Financial appointed David Bergers general counsel and managing director for legal and government relations. Bergers comes to the broker-dealer after a 13-year stint at the Securities and Exchange Commission, where he served as director of the agency’s Boston regional office and—most recently—acting deputy director of its enforcement division.


Jennifer Flynn is now general counsel of Fenway Sports Group, a sports marketing agency. Flynn began her career with the Boston Red Sox after graduating from law school 13 years ago. Since 2010, she has served as the team’s senior vice president and assistant general counsel, and she will retain those titles in her new role.


Robin Foster was named general counsel of Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics. Foster spent 31 years at Husch Blackwell—the last 24 of those as a partner. While at the firm, Foster served as an outside counsel to the Kansas City, Mo.-based hospital.

 

SCL Health System, a faith-based nonprofit health care organization, promoted Rosland Fisher McLeod to the post of senior vice president and chief legal officer. McLeod joined the organization in August 2012 as vice president and general counsel of operations. Her prior work experience also includes stints as an in-house lawyer at Biogen-Idec and Novation Corp., and as a health care partner at K&L Gates.

 

Clarabridge, a provider of customer experience management solutions, named Karl Knoll general counsel. Knoll previously was a partner at Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, where he also led the firm’s emerging companies/venture capital practice. He also worked in private practice as a member in Cooley’s corporate group and an attorney at Kirkland & Ellis.

 



Beth Chandler joined Rollins Inc. as vice president and general counsel. Chandler comes to the commercial services company from Asbury Automotive, where she was vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. She previously was the city attorney for the City of Atlanta and the vice president, assistant general counsel and corporate secretary for Mirant Corp.


Renee Cavalovitch is now vice president, general counsel and secretary to the board of trustees of Robert Morris University. Cavalovitch, a Robert Morris graduate, previously served as an associate at K&L Gates before moving in-house as corporate counsel for The H.J. Heinz Co.

 

Fiserv Inc., a financial services technology solutions provider, promoted Lynn McCreary to executive vice president and general counsel. McCreary has been the company’s deputy general counsel since March 2010. She previously was the managing partner of Bryan Cave’s San Francisco office, where she worked with clients in the financial, retail, commercial and insurance sectors.

 

MWH Global, a global wet infrastructure firm, appointed Jeff D’Agosta chief legal officer and general counsel. D’Agosta most recently served as the company’s deputy general counsel. He previously was corporate counsel for Hensel Phelps Construction Co.

Law Firm News

Marshall, Gerstein & Borun partner Li-Hsien (Lily) Rin-Laures has been named to the firm’s executive committee. Rin-Laures, who received her M.D. from Northwestern University Medical School, served as general counsel of Hyseq Pharmaceuticals (later known as Nuvelo Inc.) from 2001 to 2002. In her current role, she counsels clients on patent strategy related to pharmaceutical and biotechnology product development.
