Apple drops patent claims against Samsung smartphone only sold in Europe

The tech company wants to be able to take up arms again later, if the phone is sold in the U.S.

In December, Apple and Samsung poked their heads out of their trenches for a minute and stopped flinging injunctions at each other, as the companies withdrew some of their requests to ban the other’s products, with a little nudging from the courts.

Now Apple is taking another step toward peace in this long-running patent war (a new year’s resolution, perhaps?), and dropping patent claims against a new Samsung smartphone.
