EEOC approves new equal enforcement plan

The agency issued a list of priorities it will be focusing on

No company wants to be under investigation by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), but the strategic enforcement plan that the agency approved on Monday offers companies insight on what the EEOC will be targeting. Knowing is half the battle, and this guidance could help companies better adhere to the law, or at least better understand the EEOC’s intentions if it comes knocking.

In its press release, the EEOC announced that it will be zeroing in on the following priorities:

  • Eliminating barriers in recruitment and hiring
  • Protecting immigrant, migrant and other vulnerable workers
  • Addressing emerging and developing employment discrimination issues
  • Enforcing equal pay laws
  • Preserving access to the legal system
  • Preventing harassment through systemic enforcement and targeted outreach
