Spirit AeroSystems Inc. appointed Jon Lammers senior vice president, general counsel and secretary. Lammers previously spent 15 years at Cargill Inc., where he served as the company’s Asia Pacific general counsel and, most recently, its deputy North American general counsel.
Matthew Cantor was appointed executive vice president of legal affairs and chief general counsel of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. Cantor, who will step down as a director on the board of Lehman Brothers Special Finance prior to assuming his new position, previously was a partner at Weil, Gotshal & Manges and Kirkland & Ellis, as well as a founding principal of hedge fund Normandy Hill Capital.
Press Ganey named Devin Anderson general counsel and corporate secretary. Anderson comes to the company from Medco International B.V., the international division of Medco Health Solutions Inc., where he served as chief legal officer. He previously was executive vice president, general counsel and secretary of PolyMedica Corp.
GreenWorld Restoration named Geoffrey Connor general counsel. Connor has extensive experience in the public sector in Texas, having served as assistant commissioner of agriculture, general counsel of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and, from 2003 to 2005, Secretary of State. His private sector experience includes stints at Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld and Jackson Walker.
Gail Makode was named senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of Integrated Electrical Services Inc. Makode comes to the company from MBIA Insurance Corp., where she was general counsel, a member of the board and the chief compliance officer of MBIA Inc. She previously was vice president and counsel for Deutsche Bank AG and an associate at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton.
Belgian biopharmaceutical company UCB named Anna Richo executive vice president and general counsel. Richo joins the company after four years at Amgen, where she most recently was senior vice president and chief compliance officer. Her prior work experience also includes a stint as the vice president of law at Baxter Healthcare’s BioScience business.
Ken Siegel joined Cyan Inc. as vice president and general counsel. He comes to the company from QuinStreet, an Internet direct marketing company, where he served as senior vice president and general counsel. Siegel has also held general counsel positions at SafeNet Inc., Verigy Ltd., Agile Software Corp. and Efficient Networks Inc.
Charles Key is now general counsel of UT Medical Group Inc., the private practice arm of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center faculty. Key previously was a partner at Wyatt Tarrant & Combs, where he represented physicians and health care organizations, including the UT Medical Group. He also has served as an adjunct professor in the University of Memphis’ health administration program.
Other In-House Moves
Nick Deeming, the senior vice president, general counsel and assistant corporate secretary of Transocean Ltd., announced that he is leaving the company, effective immediately. During Deeming’s seven-year tenure, the company has faced several lawsuits related to the explosion of its drilling rig during the 2010 BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Deeming cited personal reasons for his departure.
Bradford Berenson was appointed vice president and senior counsel for litigation and legal policy at General Electric Co. Berenson most recently was a partner at Sidley Austin, where he focused on white-collar criminal defense and government investigations. His prior experience also includes a stint as White House associate counsel for George W. Bush’s administration.
Google Inc. scored Austin Schlick, the former general counsel of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), adding him to its Washington legal team. Schlick left the FCC in June, after three years as GC. He previously was the chief of litigation for the state of Maryland and an assistant solicitor general.
Preeta Bansal joined HSBC Holdings as global general counsel for litigation and regulatory affairs. Bansal previously served as general counsel and senior policy adviser in the U.S. Office of Management and Budget. She began working at the White House in 2009, after spending five years at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. She also was solicitor general of New York between 1999 and 2001.
Brown & Brown Inc. named Laurel L. Grammig chief compliance and regulatory officer. Grammig was general counsel for the company from 1994 until 2009, when she was named chief corporate counsel. She most recently served as vice president and corporate secretary.
Broadcasting company Entercom Communications Corp. announced the retirement of longtime general counsel Jack Donlevie. Donlevie joined the company in 1984 as vice president-legal and administrative and was promoted to his current position in 1989. He will step down as general counsel effective Jan. 1, 2013, but will continue to serve as executive vice president until 2015.
Law Firm Moves
Christian Hylton, formerly acting general counsel of the New York City Council, joined Abrams, Fensterman, Fensterman, Eisman, Formato, Ferrara & Einiger as a partner. In his new position, he will help to launch the firm’s land use practice area, which will provide legal counsel in matters such as zoning, rezoning and special permits.
