7 noteworthy in-house career moves

Charting some of the most recent GC and in-house appointments

GC Appointments

Anna Richo joined Belgian biopharmaceutical company UCB as executive vice president and general counsel. Richo comes to the company after four years at Amgen, where she most recently was senior vice president and chief compliance officer. She also previously served as VP of law at Baxter Healthcare’s BioScience business.

 

Spirit AeroSystems Inc. named Jon Lammers senior vice president, general counsel and secretary. Lammers most recently spent 15 years at Cargill Inc., where he served as the company’s Asia Pacific general counsel and, most recently, as its deputy North America general counsel.

 

UT Medical Group Inc., the private practice arm of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center faculty, hired Charles Key as general counsel. Key previously was a partner at Wyatt Tarrant & Combs, where he represented physicians and health care organizations, including the UT Medical Group. He also has served as an adjunct professor in the University of Memphis’s health administration program.


Gail Makode was named senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of Integrated Electrical Services Inc. Makode comes to the company from MBIA Insurance Corp., where she was general counsel, a member of the board and the chief compliance officer of MBIA Inc. She previously was vice president and counsel for Deutsche Bank AG and an associate at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton.

Other In-House Moves

Bradford Berenson is now vice president and senior counsel for litigation and legal policy at General Electric Co. Berenson previously was a partner at Sidley Austin, where he focused on white-collar criminal defense and government investigations. His prior experience also includes a stint as White House associate counsel for George W. Bush’s administration.

Law Firm News

Robert Hust joined Frost Brown Todd as a member of the firm’s automotive industry team. Hust has more than 21 years of experience, most recently serving as assistant vice president, general counsel, corporate secretary and compliance officer of Honda of America Manufacturing Inc. While at Honda, Hust led the company’s litigation and employment-labor groups and served as co-chair of its risk management committee.

 

Arnold & Porter hired Diane Bieri as a partner in its Food and Drug Administraiton and healthcare practice. Bieri previously served as executive vice president and general counsel at the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA). In her new position, she also will work with Arnold & Porter’s antitrust group.
