NAMWOLF appoints David Askew as CEO and general counsel

Askew comes to the diversity-focused organization from Edwards Wildman Palmer

After Jason Brown left the National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms (NAMWOLF) on Aug. 3 to accept a position at MillerCoors, the organization has been looking for someone who could fill his shoes as chief executive officer and general counsel. On Thursday, NAMWOLF announced it had found that person in David Askew.

Askew previously held the post of director of Edwards Wildman Palmer’s pro bono program, and has also served as deputy chief of the Illinois Attorney General’s Office Civil Rights Bureau, as a litigation associate at Edwards Wildman’s predecessor Wildman, Harrold, Allen & Dixon and in the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps.

“We are thrilled to welcome David to his new role at NAMWOLF,” said Nemeth Burwell partner Linda Burwell, a member of the NAMWOLF board of directors and chair of the executive search committee. “His experience, coupled with his demonstrated passion for promoting the interests of minorities and women, will help NAMWOLF increase its stature as the premier organization of its kind in the legal community.”
