Amazon hires Nuala O’Connor as its first privacy counsel

The company has had a privacy snafu recently Inc. now has someone whose sole job is to look out for your privacy. The online company has finally joined its fellow 500-pound gorillas of the Internet—Facebook Inc., Apple Inc. and Google Inc.—in hiring a privacy counsel.

Nuala O’Connor will join Amazon as vice president and associate general counsel, compliance and privacy. She was previously chief privacy leader at General Electric Co., and before that served as chief privacy officer for the Department of Homeland Security.
