Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has named Roderick A. Palmore to its board of directors.
Palmore has been the executive vice president, general counsel, chief compliance and risk management officer, and secretary for General Mills Inc. since 2008. Before that, he headed up the legal department at Sara Lee Corp., worked for several law firms and held positions in the Department of Justice.
“We are pleased to have Rick join the Goodyear Board of Directors,” Goodyear Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard J. Kramer said in the company’s announcement. “His broad business knowledge and public board experience, as well as his strong leadership skills, will be valuable assets to the Goodyear Board and the senior leadership team as we execute our strategic roadmap.”
In addition to his legal accomplishments, Palmore made a name for himself in 2004 when he spearheaded the Association of Corporate Counsel program “Call to Action,” which asked legal department leaders to make diversity in the legal profession a real priority. Through his leadership and example, other companies have followed by incorporating measurable diversity initiatives within their legal departments.
Palmore is currently a director of CBOE Holdings Inc. and is on the executive committee of the Association of General Counsel as its immediate past chairman.
