GC Appointments

Archer Daniels Midland Co. (ADM) hired Marschall Smith as general counsel, senior vice president and secretary. Smith comes to ADM from 3M Co., where he spent nearly five years as SVPof legal affairs and general counsel. He also has held general counsel posts at Brunswick Corp., Digitas Inc. and IMC Global Inc.


Kim Rucker, former general counsel and chief compliance officer of Avon Products Inc., is leaving the beauty company for Kraft Foods Group Inc., where she will serve as general counsel, corporate secretary and executive vice president of corporate and legal affairs. Rucker previously was SVP, corporate secretary and chief governance officer for Energy Future Holdings and a partner in the corporate and securities group at Sidley Austin.

 

George Gulf Corp. announced the appointment of Timothy Mann, Jr. as executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. Mann previously was a partner at Jones Day, where he focused on public and private sector mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance.


Marielle Lifshitz was named general counsel of Wrapports LLC, the owner of Sun-Times Media. She joined Sun-Times Media as an assistant general counsel in 2006, and has been serving as interim general counsel since April. She also was a partner in the corporate department of Drinker Biddle, where she specialized in mergers, acquisitions, venture capital, corporate finance and securities law.

 

Thor Industries Inc. hired Todd Woelfer as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary. Woelfer previously was managing partner of the law firm May Oberfell Lorber, where he focused on general litigation and business counseling. He also served as general counsel of Coachmen Industries Inc.


Marie-Louise Skafte is the new vice president and general counsel of The Cronos Group, a global container fleet owner. Skafte comes to the company from Deutsche Post DHL-Canada, where she was general counsel and corporate secretary. Her prior work experience also includes stints at DHL Express (USA) Inc., APL Limited and MasTec Inc.

 

Australian airline Qantas hired Andrew Finch as general counsel, effective Nov. 1. Finch joins the company from Allens Arthur Robinson, where he was a managing partner in the corporate and commercial department, with clients including Qantas, Westpace, OneSteel, Hutchison, GPT and Leighton Holdings. Finch replaces outgoing GC Brett Johnson, who is retiring after 17 years with the company.

 

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett appointed James Schultz general counsel of the Commonwealth. Schultz most recently was the state’s executive deputy general counsel. He previously was of counsel at Cozen O’Connor, where he worked in the complex litigation group. Scultz also spent three years working in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.


Jacquelyne Belcastro was named general counsel of Sapa Profiles North America, a leading supplier of solutions using extruded aluminum profiles. Before joining Sapa, Belcastro was a senior vice president and deputy general counsel at CNA Foundation in Chicago. Her prior work experience also includes stints at Oppenheimer, Wolff & Donnelly and Rolewick & Gutzke.
