Yale Law School will offer Ph.D.s

School is first in the country to offer advanced law degree

In May, news broke that law school graduates now face an average of more than $200,000 in law school debt. But that isn’t deterring one law school from trying to keep students in school even longer.

Yale Law School recently announced that it has created the country’s first program for a Ph.D. in law. According to Robert Post, dean of Yale Law, the three-year program is designed to help students break into careers in academia. Students in the school’s Ph.D. program will get hands-on experience with advanced scholarly research and writing. They also will take teaching classes that will eventually lead them to teach classes themselves.
