Reebok settles with Nike over Tebow jerseys

Company agrees to stop selling the apparel that Nike claimed violated its licensing agreement

If you haven’t already gotten your contraband Tim Tebow New York Jets jersey, we’re afraid you’re out of luck. Last week, a court ordered Reebok to stop selling apparel featuring the National Football League (NFL) quarterback, as rival athletic wear maker Nike had licensing agreements with both Tebow and the NFL, and Reebok’s deal with the NFL had expired.

The district court judge also announced that he thought Nike would ultimately win its claims against Reebok, which perhaps is the reason that Reebok decided to settle. The settlement was disclosed on Tuesday, and while Reebok agreed not to manufacture or sell any more Tebow Jets jerseys, it is still unknown if any money was involved in the settlement.

Spokespeople for both companies said the parties were “pleased to have reached a mutually agreeable resolution.”
