Las Vegas Sands sued over Macau gambling license

Case expected to go to trial next year

Asian American Entertainment Corp. is calling the bluff of U.S. gambling company Las Vegas Sands Corp., suing it for 3 billion patacas ($375 million) in Macau court. Asian American claims that Sands breached its contract by going behind its back and collaborating with another company to win a gaming license in Macau.

Macau is the only place in China that allows casino gambling, making it extremely lucrative. Sands has three casinos in Macau, operated by Sands China Ltd., which decried Asian American’s suit as “meritless.”
