7 noteworthy in-house career moves

Charting some of the most recent GC and in-house appointments

 

 

Electronics giant Siemens Corp. appointed Rose Marie Glazer as general counsel, senior vice president and secretary of Siemens in the Americas. Glazer—the first woman to serve as GC for Siemens’ U.S. operations—joined in company in 2004 as associate general counsel and chief compliance officer at Siemens PLM. She also has held in-house positions at Telvista Inc., Allied Riser Communications and American Airlines.


Marc Firestone resigned as general counsel of Kraft Foods Inc. to rejoin Philip Morris International (PMI) as its GC. Firestone previously served as PMI’s senior vice president and general counsel before joining Kraft in 2003. While at Kraft, he oversaw the company’s takeover of confectionary company Cadbury in 2010. He replaces outgoing PMI GC David Bernick, who left the tobacco giant to pursue outside opportunities.

 

Automaker Rolls-Royce hired former British Airways general counsel Robert Webb as its new GC. Webb most recently spent two and a half years at Brick Court Chambers in London. Prior to that, he spent more than 10 years in the legal department at British Airways. Webb also serves as the non-executive director of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) and non-executive chairman of BBC Worldwide.


Ab Jenkins has been named general counsel and secretary of Cubic Transportation Systems, an integrator of payment and information technology for travel solutions. Jenkins has been with Cubic Corp. since 2003, most recently serving as senior counsel of ethics and compliance.

 

 

Arbor Pharmaceuticals, a specialty pharmaceutical company headquartered in Atlanta, named Leslie Zacks as its general counsel and chief compliance officer. Zacks spent six years as the executive vice president, general counsel and chief compliance officer of Shionogi Pharma Inc. From 2002 to 2004, he was a partner in the intellectual property department of Hunton & Williams.


Simone Wu joined Choice Hotels International Inc. as general counsel, corporate secretary and senior vice president. She most recently served as executive vice president, general counsel and secretary for XO Communications. Prior to that, she worked at MCI and AOL, and practiced corporate transactional and communications law at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.

 

Other In-House Moves

Reed Smith added Marc Lackner as a partner in the Financial Industry Group at its San Francisco office. Lackner previously spent 15 years at Bank of America, where he served as a senior counsel overseeing consumer real estate litigation, and as an associate general counsel managing the mortgage litigation group.
