Apple faces yet more litigation, this time alleging trademark infringement against its iCloud service, unveiled last week by CEO Steve Jobs at WWDC 2011. Filed by iCloud Communications, the lawsuit claims that Apple infringed on a six-year-old trademark of the iCloud name.
iCloud Communications argues that the name creates confusion, as its cloud products are nearly identical to those launched by Apple. The Apple iCloud allows customers to virtually store data, such as photos and music, and access it from up to 10 devices. iCloud Communications, a voice-over IP provider, also offers cloud computing services.
Apple filed for use of iCloud with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on June 1, but iCloud Communications claims to have used the trademark since 2005.
