GC Appointments

Twitter, a San Francisco-based micro-blogging service, has named Alexander Macgillivray general counsel. He was previously deputy general counsel for products and intellectual property at Google Inc.

Chicago-based insurance broker Aon Corp. named Peter Lieb executive vice president and general counsel. Previously he was senior vice president, general counsel and secretary at NCR Corp.

Denver-based Quiznos, a nationwide sandwich chain, named Pat Meyers general counsel. Most recently he was chief legal officer and partner at Consumer Capital Partners, a Quiznos investor, but before that he served as Quiznos' executive vice president and GC for 10 years.

Austin Schlick was named general counsel of the Federal Communications Commission. Previously, he was chief of the civil division of the Maryland attorney general's office.

Madison, Wisc.-based RMT Inc., an energy and environment company, has appointed David Kutcher vice president and general counsel. He was previously a partner at the Simmons Perrine Moyer Bergman law firm in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Joseph Bonaccorsi was named senior vice president, general counsel and secretary of Lake Forest, Ill.-based Akorn Inc., a pharmaceuticals manufacturer. Previously he was senior vice president of mergers and acquisitions and counsel for the Walgreens-Option Care's Home Care division.

Will Gunn was named general counsel for the Department of Veterans Affairs. A retired Air Force colonel, he previously represented veterans and military members in Virginia in private practice.

The Phoenix Cos., a Hartford, Conn.-based property and casualty insurer, named John T. Mulrain as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary. Mulrain replaces Tracy Rich, who is leaving the company to become general counsel at the Guardian Life Insurance Co. of America. Previously Mulrain was vice president and counsel at Phoenix.

Rochelle "Shelly" Levy Cooper was promoted to vice president & general counsel of Houston-based United Space Alliance, a space operations company. Previously, she was deputy general counsel for the company.

Mountain View, Calif.-based TrialPay, an e-commerce solutions company, named Clint Smith vice president and general counsel. Previously Smith was general counsel at open source database MySQL.

Stamford, Conn.-based Centerplate, a food service partner to convention centers and sports stadiums, named Keith King senior vice president and general counsel. Previously he was in-house counsel at DineEquity Inc.

Sara Lee Corp., a food manufacturer based in Downers Grove, Ill., promoted Brett Hart to executive vice president and general counsel. Previously he was deputy general counsel with the company. He replaces Peggy Foran, who resigned for personal reasons.

South Jersey Industries, a Folsom, N.J.-based energy holding company, promoted Gina Merritt-Epps to corporate counsel and secretary. She replaced Richard Walker Jr., who retired in May. Previously Merritt-Epps served as the company's associate general counsel and assistant secretary.

PetSmart Inc., a Phoenix-based pet retailer, named Emily Dickinson senior vice president, general counsel and secretary. She succeeds Scott Crozier, who retired in April. Previously Dickinson was senior vice president, general counsel and secretary for Hannaford Bros. Co.

Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings Inc., a Phoenix-based outdoor advertising company, promoted David Clark to executive vice president and general counsel for the Americas. Most recently he was senior vice president and associate general counsel for the company.

Lexington, Ky.-based mattress-maker Tempur-Pedic International Inc. named Lou Jones executive vice president and general counsel. Previously she was general counsel at Papa John's International.

The Navigators Group, Inc., a New York-based specialty insurance holding company, named Bruce Byrnes senior vice president, general counsel and chief compliance officer. Previously he was principal, chief operating officer & general counsel Hudson Insurance Capital Partners.

LiveOps, a Santa Clara, Calif.-based contact center software company, named Rob Chesnut general counsel. Previously he was senior vice president for rules, trust and safety at eBay.
