Creating Change

Every so often, it's time for a change. Clearly, the country thought so during the last election. And here at InsideCounsel, we decided it was time to make a few positive changes, too.

You may have noticed that we changed our logo to add the tagline "Business Insights for Law Department Leaders," which we think concisely and accurately expresses what we offer you. You also may have seen new columns in the magazine, exploring the critical topics of ethics and diversity, as well as our new corporate crime department. We improved and expanded our Web site (insidecounsel.com), making it easier to navigate and search for all our rich content and online exclusives.

We're also changing our annual SuperConference to assure it remains the premier event for legal executives. The ninth annual SuperConference, to be held May 5 and 6 in Chicago, has been redesigned to make it even more relevant to your interests. Led by an esteemed in-house counsel Advisory Board, this year's conference will offer the latest tools for law department management and expert insights on the most pressing issues in corporate law. We've opened the conference to both in-house and outside counsel this year, providing enhanced networking and learning opportunities. But one thing that won't change is the key concept that has made SuperConference so valuable through the years--content that is developed for general counsel by general counsel.

We're excited that Bob Bauer will be our keynote speaker. Bauer is intimately familiar with change--he most recently served as general counsel to the Obama for America campaign. Over his 30-year legal career, this Perkins Coie partner has represented not only political committees and candidates but also corporations, trade associations and tax-exempt groups.

We've packed the rest of SuperConference with programs to help you manage change--including changing privilege and e-discovery rules, changing workforce demographics, changing regulatory requirements and changing inside counsel-outside counsel relationships--the topic of this month's cover story (see "Feeling the Pinch"). And we've recruited a stellar group of general counsel, leading law firm attorneys and government and regulatory leaders to provide insights into these topics and more. For a preview, visit insidecounsel.com/superconference.

Please join us at SuperConference this year. I look forward to seeing you there.
