A Chicago jury convicted former Hollinger International General Counsel Peter Atkinson and in-house lawyer Mark Kipnis on three counts of mail fraud July 13. Each count carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Atkinson and Kipnis were on trial alongside former Hollinger CEO Conrad Black and former finance chief John Boultbee. Black was convicted of mail fraud and obstruction of justice. Boultbee was also convicted on three counts of mail fraud.
